Grace has been painting professionally for close to thirty years, but her love for drawing and painting goes back as far as she can remember. Recollections of her early years growing up in Toronto include transforming childhood fantasies into simple but detailed sketches. Later she began doing portraits of family and friends.
After completing high school in Toronto, Grace attended University in the United States where she pursued a B.A. degree, and later a Master's degree in Education. While pursuing a career in education, she found many opportunities to use her artistic talents both at the elementary school and high school level.
Grace's portfolio boasts a wide variety of subject matter, rendered in both oils and watercolours. However, she finds the medium of watercolour most suited to her personality. As to subject matter, she does portaits, homesteads, landscapes, flowers (a series entitled "Window Gardens", being her most recent), seascapes and even lovable teddy bears known as "Bear Hugs". Grace has also created a variety of greeting cards, her latest being a collection entitled "Petal People", delightfully personified to make any occasion bloom.
Currently living in the Niagara region, Ontario, Grace is the mother of three adult children and the grandmother of two very special granddaughters.
"I see my art as a reflection of my own personality as well as a reflection of my faith," says Grace. "I love the beauty I see in the natural images that I so much enjoy painting and in their simplistic beauty I see the amazing wonder of God's love for us." |
